Care for Clare

Our dear friend, Clare Lyons has been through an extremely difficult year with her health. From dealing with IgA nephropathy and Henoch Scholein Purpura causing kidney damage, to chronic pericarditis that causes fluid to build up around her heart, to adrenal insufficiency, and Crypopyrin Associated Autoinflammatory Syndromes which causes excruciating pain and constant fevers. Recently, she received a new diagnosis of Guillian Barre Syndrome. This is a rare and debilitating neuromuscular disease for which the treatment is intravenous infusions of immunoglobulins. While this seemed a promising treatment, unfortunately, after the first treatment, she developed an acute hemolytic and vasculitic reaction which caused her blood cells to be destroyed faster than she can reproduce them, which will require yet another hospitalization. She has been admitted to the hospital over 40 times and one ICU stay in the past 2 years.


Clare takes care of others for a living.  As an ER nurse, she has dedicated her life to being there for those who need her most, while she herself is not feeling at her best. As nurses, we know how expensive and emotionally taxing healthcare services and procedures can be, and we want to do whatever we can to help Clare. Due to all of these health issues, Clare has not been able to work since April. The medical bills are piling up, making her unable to pay for future treatments. We need to help her get through this rough patch.  We are asking you to donate any amount that you can to help Clare and her family through this difficult time.
