We, Doyle and Teresa Decker, are reaching out to you, our friends, to share a bit of our lives with you. We have a particular financial challenge that we are facing. We moved to Versailles Missouri a little over 3 years ago, and attend the Safe Haven congregation. In spite of some really trying times, life here is good.
We'll keep it brief. As part of her life, our 17 year old daughter Daisy faces several emotional challenges. She not only has the not so uncommon challenges of ADHD and OCD, but she has also been battling PNES. These seizures appear as epilepsy, but are of emotional nature instead of brain electrical malfunction. Shortly after her diagnosis of PNES she was diagnosed with High functioning Autism. We since have found out that PNES is often a result of undiagnosed Autism in girls. We, of course, have been trying multiple ways to help her in all this. One of the biggest ways is to reduce stress. And in turn, one of these ways is to create consistent habits and order. The ADHD and Autism are hers to keep, but the seizures are much better than 2 years ago, and we hope that they continue to diminish in frequency and strength. We don't really know why it has not worked for her to find any sort consistent job, but we trust that God knows best, and that He will continue to provide.
Daisy has been gifted with quite the natural artistic abilities. She has started Ozark Art Co. She loves having good times with friends and family.
Her dear 7 pound Yorkipoo is always sad when she's not around. Diesel has spindly legs that carry him like the wind whenever he gets the opportunity.
I guess to the point of this sharing. We are making payments on past medical debt, but instead of going further into debt, we feel to reach out for assistance instead of incurring more. We are very thankful to receive some state aid for our needs, but they are unable to help with this particular need of paying someone to stay, part-time, with Daisy until she turns 18. (Per her doctor she is unable to stay alone at this time) At 18, Daisy has already been qualified to receive state assistance. This part time help is budgeted at $800 per month. She turns 18 in August, 6 months from now.
Our thought is to ask fifty of our family and friends to help with this concern of our home. (We hesitate calling it a burden, because we try to let the Lord carry this load.)
$800 per month x 6 months ÷ by 50 participants = $96 each. This number is for reference only. Please give as much or little as the Lord prompts.
We are setting up a special account that these funds will go into for the needs of Daisy.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU each one for any support. Support includes prayers that we as parents can relax in the Lord's provisions.
