Help Me Regain My Freedom with a Mobility Scooter
Hi, my name is Bec, I am a 44-year-old mum living with rheumatoid arthritis (which royally sucks). I was diagnosed in 2021, and since then, my life has changed drastically.
Despite this I’m not entitled to NDIS funding because my disease isn’t controlled by medication. There is no other funding available to people in my situation either.
Before my diagnosis, I loved taking my kids out and exploring the city together using public transport. These outings were not just fun but essential for their well-being. Unfortunately, my condition has progressed to the point where leaving the house has become almost impossible. Now, I only venture out for doctors' appointments and other essential commitments.
The most challenging part of living with rheumatoid arthritis has been losing my independence and spontaneity. Simple activities, like popping out for groceries or taking my kids to the park, require extensive planning and, often, costly taxi or Uber fares. For instance, my last hospital visit cost over $60 because I had to rely on an Uber instead of public transport.
I am seeking your help to raise $5,000 for a mobility scooter that will allow me to regain my freedom and independence. This scooter will enable me to leave the house without the immense physical strain and financial burden that currently limit me. It will bring back the joy of spontaneous outings and make everyday activities more manageable.
I have explored other funding options, but unfortunately, I am not eligible for the NDIS because my condition isn't currently under control. This is why I am turning to the kindness and generosity of others.
Any amount you can contribute will make a significant difference in my life and help me reclaim my independence. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can provide.
I really appreciate you taking the time to consider donating.
