Help Cari with her fight with M.D.S.

Hi my name is Bari Fairly and I am Cari Edlund’s little sister. Many of you may be unaware, but Cari has recently been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome also called: MDS or preleukemia. MDS, is a form of blood cancer. The only known cure for this condition is a complete stem cell transplant. If Cari chooses to delay the procedure, she will eventually develop leukemia. Fortunately, we have just found a donor, and Cari will need to be hospitalized for approximately one month. During this time, she will undergo intensive chemotherapy to prepare her body for the transplant. Following the procedure, she will require close monitoring due to her weakened immune system. For the past four months, Cari has been receiving treatment at the USC Cancer Center along with weekly blood transfusions in preparation for the transplant, which is scheduled to take place in August. As many of you already know, Cari is a single mother to Kasey Claire and has been doing her best to continue working despite the challenges she faces. However, the mounting medical bills have become overwhelming. In addition to these expenses, we are also seeking assistance in ensuring that Cari's home is as germ-free as possible, considering her compromised immune system. This includes things like new flooring and a fresh guest room for those who will be taking care of Kasey. I will keep everyone updated on Cari's progress and pass along your well wishes since she is not very active on social media.
