We have come to know Carin, as a cat loving, single mother of two thriving teenagers. She also happens to be the nurse that runs our busy kidney transplant clinic. This can be an overwhelming and stressful time for our patients as they transition from dialysis to a functioning kidney. Our patients love her. Calming and nurturing, she provides quality, supportive, individualized, patient care.
Within six months of her own mother’s death, Carin was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. She is now in the midst of six weeks of chemotherapy, which will be followed by radiation and surgery. Despite donations of coworker P.T.O, the duration of her treatment will outrun her time. She epitomizes the vulnerability and struggles a single parent faces to-day when suddenly diagnosed with a devastating illness. She is one step away from losing everything. She is the breadwinner with limited resources. She may lose her apartment and her children.
Can you help provide for this single mother as she fights for her life? She needs money now, to keep a roof over her head, food on the table and life-saving cancer treatment.
