Caring for Camron and Caitlyn (Colbeck) Roehl

Camron is no stranger to running races. Camron ran cross country for NDSU in Fargo while attending college and was very successful. Now Camron and Caitlyn are in another cross country race and we have heard how many of you wish to cheer them on to the finish line!

In early March, after some testing and a CT scan, it was determined that Camron had testicular cancer. It had also spread to a couple of lymph nodes near his left kidney. Camron had surgery to remove the tumor and several things were learned: the tumor was a mixed germ cell tumor, it was considered a non-seminoma, and the cancer was staged between stages 2 and 3.

Camron started three 3-week cycles of chemo Monday, April 3rd in Fargo, ND. The first week of each cycle entailed 5-6 hours of treatment Monday through Friday, and the second and third weeks included a shorter treatment each Monday. On Monday, May 21, 2023, Camron started his third cycle of chemo. He's had some long days over the past several weeks. Camron had some labs taken recently and it also looks like his tumor marker numbers are trending in the right direction, so we praise God for that! They are also waiting for one more test result to come back.

The next three weeks will be the toughest on Camron as each cycle of chemo is supposed to beat him down a little harder.

After Camron finishes his chemo, at some point they will head down to Mayo in Rochester, MN. He'll get some scans done, and the oncologists at Mayo will determine whether or not Camron will need surgery to remove the lymph nodes that cancer had spread to.

Our hope is that we can help Camron and Caitlyn with the cost of the medical bills, some of which are not covered by insurance, costs for traveling to Mayo Clinic and other foreseen and unforeseen expenses as they run this race.

Most importantly Camron and Caitlyn believe in the power of prayer and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
