Caring for Elijah and his precious family

I am creating this account to help my son, Elijah McDowell, who was injured pretty badly in an incident early Sunday morning.

Early Sunday morning Elijah put himself between his friend and a man who was about to hit his friend. It was not provoked by Elijah and his friend. The officer said it appeared the offender “was looking for a fight.” Elijah took the hit to the face falling backwards and landing on the back of his head. He was knocked unconscious.

He suffered a “major Traumatic Brain Injury” and brain bleed. He was in the hospital most of Sunday. He is experiencing many symptoms: nausea, dizziness, severe headache, confusion, memory loss and more.

Elijah asked many times where he was and what happened. We would explain it to him and Elijah would say, “ I am not going to let someone get hit. I would rather get hit.” He was always very protective of LeRoy.

He is expected to make a full recovery, mercifully.

As you can imagine it was very frightening for all of us.

He is home now and resting . Nicole is taking very careful and compassionate care of him.

Elijah will be off work “ several weeks” per doctor’s order. Nicole will be home with him this whole week to be with Elijah.

Please pray for this precious family. If you are able, please consider helping them through the several weeks we know Elijah will be off work.
