Caring for the Champers
Donation protected
A little over a year ago, five-year old Declan was diagnosed with an extremely rare and life threatening condition called Aplastic Anemia (bone marrow failure). In December 2016, he underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. The Champers' lives were turned upside down over the last year as they completed the treatment required for Declan.
This fall, Declan was finally weaned from all medications and the doctors believed he was cured. Jess and Alisha excitedly made plans for moving forward with their family and their lives. However, the doctors were stunned in October 2017, when Declan's transplant seemed to be failing. On December 6, 2017, doctors determined that a second transplant, this time from an unrelated donor, was necessary for Declan.
Alisha is currently pregnant, and, due to the chemotherapy Declan will be receiving, she cannot be with Declan during treatment. Jess, a pastor at Living Hope Christian Fellowship, must take a leave of absence to be Declan's full-time caregiver in the hospital for the next several months.
Please consider supporting The Champers family as Declan goes through a second bone marrow transplant. Donations will go directly to the Champers to cover their expenses and most importantly, will cover the income-gap created while Jess is Declan's full-time caregiver.
In Alisha's words "I am back to trusting God day by day, moment by moment, to carry us through the months ahead as He has so faithfully seen us through the last year."
*Please note that donations made through gofundme are not tax deductible.
