Caring for Lisa Schold

Donation protected
On June 26th, we said goodbye to one of the most amazing young men you'd ever meet. Jon had battled sickness (Crohns disease) for almost 15 years, the last year fighting an ugly surprise cancer diagnosis. He not only fought it with vigor and steadfastness, but never wavered in believing that God was caring for him and his wife with great love. And where some would say he "lost" his battle with cancer, we know assuredly that he won the race of endurance and is basking in inexpressible joy now. So we grieve and mourn for what we have lost, but have no grief for what he has won.

Some of you may know (and I am so sorry if you do know) that cancer is EXPENSIVE. Jon leaves behind an amazing wife that carries a new burden of tying up loose ends and dealing with the financial ramifications of insurance coverage lack, among other random expenses. While none of us can walk the grieving process for a young widow, we can help with the annoying burden of bills.

I've set up this GoFundMe with the hopes that it can stay up over the year and you can give when you feel led. She is already getting many random bills in the mail from past hospital stays or things that insurance decided they wouldn't cover. Jon's downward spiral was pretty quick, so things are playing catch up and will continue for awhile. There was amazing support for Jon and Lisa last year with his first surgery, and they were beyond thankful for the help. My hope is that we can rally to care for what Jon cared so deeply for, his sweet bride. My last time talking with Jon face-to-face was a week before he passed. He told me that he was really at peace with dying (he had no idea it was going to happen so soon), but he was just worried about Lisa and all that she will have to take on. I reminded him of three things- 1. You married an incredible woman that can take it 2. No one would ever let her struggle to survive. There are too many people that love you and her to ever leave her stranded for things 3. Most importantly, God is faithful and loves Lisa more than he ever could.

Thank you all for being part of Jon's story, caring for what he cared for, and trekking in the incredible wake he has left behind.
