Hi, my name is Joe Keimig. I am raising funds for the funeral and cremation of my friend Ace, for his family and friends.

I met Ace while attending the Mighty Oaks - Men's Legacy Camp in April 2022. He was a salty Vietnam Vet who had repeatedly battled cancer, as well as his own demons. His gruff sense of humor was exactly what I had grown to expect from my brothers and sisters in the veteran community.

Ace sought to reestablish a relationship with God and Jesus Christ despite the demons he fought daily. We spoke of deployments, war, family, friends, and the choices we made afterward that were not following Jesus. We spoke with each other about staying on track with church, the Bible, and fellowship with one another. Ace spoke fondly of the family he once had and that he had lost due to his mistakes. He was reluctant at first to open up but eventually came around to soften his heart. Ace's openness about his mistakes and the family life it cost him served as a solemn reminder to the younger vets and me that our legacies in our own families were at stake.

Following our week at Mighty Oaks, Ace and I kept in touch, as he had no family and few friends. We talked a few times a week, and I could tell he was declining mentally and physically.

Sadly, Ace died alone at home on June 21, 2022.

Ace had no close family, and his next of kin has been unable to come up with the $1600 that will need to be fronted to the funeral home for a memorial service and cremation.

I have been in direct contact with the funeral home and confirmed that the financial obligation is all that needs to be met to give this man a proper send-off from his time on earth.
