Carla Continues to Fight Multiple Myeloma

Donation protected
Carla (Cuoco) DiVona is strong but needs her Pt. Boro community to help her win this round! If you are not in a position to donate, prayers welcome!

Her boys and I created this account to unite her friends and rally around Carla and ease her financial worries so she can focus on the fight of her life. Here's Carla's story as told by her own sons -- Jaret, Carl and Stevie.

Carla was recently hospitalized on July 29, 2023, for what she thought might be a bad stomach bug. After a day in the emergency room, she was admitted into the hospital with the initial diagnosis of renal failure. After extensive testing she was formally diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and was moved to the oncology floor. Multiple Myeloma is a cancer affecting a type of white blood cell that can damage bones, kidneys, and the immune system. Although treatable, it is incurable and requires intrusive treatment consisting of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants.

Carla's life has not been easy, and it is only going to get harder. After raising her first son, Jaret (mostly on her own), she remarried and had twin boys, Carl and Stephen in 2004. She would be left on her own to raise her three boys again in 2005 when her husband passed away from a sudden brain aneurysm. Even when faced with the greatest challenge and heartbreak of her life, Carla continued to raise and support her children in spite of it all.

Now, Carla faces another big challenge that has come into her life suddenly -- without any warning. She will have to endure two chemotherapy sessions every week for six months and will eventually require a bone marrow transplant. The cancer and chemotherapy will cause her to lose her hair, her muscle mass, and even her hallmark tan. However, not even cancer can make her lose her tenacity and her will to fight for herself and her family.

As anyone who knows Carla can tell you, she has one weakness: Asking for Help. Carla prefers to handle things on her own, but cancer is something she cannot conquer alone.

Now, more than ever before, Carla needs the help of her community and deeply appreciates anyone who is gracious enough to donate. As most neighbors and friends here in Point Pleasant Boro can tell you, Carla has lived here her entire life. Everywhere she goes, she has a friend and now she needs her friends to support her in her fight. Donating to this page will help pay for Carla's treatment costs and living expenses. Carla's only request is that "you keep praying so she can keep fighting!"
