About Carla
You only have to be around Carla for short time for her upbeat, can-do attitude, and wisecracking sense of humor to draw you in. She's one of those people that you feel comfortable with from the beginning, like you've always known her.
With one of the biggest, most caring hearts you will ever find, Carla is always making, doing, and giving to others. I've seen her knit entire sweaters for patients she sees through her work at Edwards hospital, take on extra shifts at her second job to help out a coworker in need, she regularly texts, emails, or calls people she knows are going through difficult situations, always with a smile on her face and willing you to join her in a laugh.
Basically, she's the person that shows up and shows you the bright side when you didn't think there was one left to find.
Now Carla is facing her own hurdles. Recently diagnosed with heart failure, she has endured multiple hospitalizations including a stay in the ICU for for upper respiratory problems resulting in RSV. Having run out of paid medical leave and vacation days from her full time job, and unable to work the part time job she relies on to pay routine bills, finances are a huge concern. She does have some short term disability from her job at Edwards but that only covers a portion of her regular salary.
It doesn't take much imagination to understand how quickly this becomes a financial crisis that affects her daily outlook, and prognosis. With her parents deceased, her family is the one she has made here with us and she needs our help.
The Plan
The plan here is to help Carla by alleviating some of her ongoing expenses so she can focus on her health. She needs our help now and ongoing - until she's back to working her full time and part time jobs, she needs our help.
I've started the campaign at the amount suggested by this fundraising site but from personal experience I know she will need more so it will be adjusted as time, bills, and healing time progress.
Sounds simple enough, right?
The Financial Reality
Medical bills are coming in along with Carla's regular monthly expenses. What's not coming in is her regular monthly income.
Sadly, this is the reality of the world we live in today but there is something we can do to help!
Where Will the Money Go?
-Rent
-Car Payment
-Utilities
-Groceries
-Medical Bills
Bottom Line
Carla needs our help. She's been there for you with a smile, a wisecrack, a hug, a handmade gift from the ♡, she's in need and would never ask any of us for help because she's the helper.
No matter how small the gift, it adds up! Anything you can do to help is appreciated, whether that be a donation or simply sharing this page on your social media channels.
I'll keep this information updated with ways to help Carla and updates on what's needed. In the meantime, thank you!
In the ICU she's still got a smile to share!
