To all of his family and friends Carlos Ortiz was known as someone that was always in an uplifting mood. His nickname to his friends was even "Big Happy". To all of his co-workers he was known as someone that they can always rely on because the great amount of integrity and accountability he had. Every where he went, he was respected and sought after. Since he was such a hard worker, working out of town weeks at a time, to help support his mother, his presence at family gatherings was always greatly appreciated and cherished.
Carlos Ortiz came home from a long day of work when all of a sudden he was found unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to the nearest emergency room in Port Arthor, where the doctors determined that his condition was too severe for their capabilities so he was quickly transported to Jennie Sealy Hospital in Gavleston Tx., where friends and family accompanied him throughout his fight.
To his siblings Carlos was the 2nd youngest of 5.
At the age of 42 he lost his week long battle for his life in the hospital on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 4:30am.
