On Saturday night around 11:00 pm my home country, Ecuador, suffered one of the major catastrophes in the country's history.
According to the latest update more than 246 people have died and at least 2,527 people were injured. These numbers sadly are expected to rise.
Directly from CNN: " The hardest-hit area was the coastal Manabi Province, where about 200 people died, said Ricardo Peñaherrera of Ecuador's national emergency management office. The cities of Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales, a tourist destination, saw the most devastation but damage was widespread throughout the country. "It was the worst experience of my life," survivor Jose Meregildo said Sunday about the tremors that violently shook his house in Guayaquil, 300 miles away from the quake's epicenter. "Everybody in my neighborhood was screaming saying it was going to be the end of the world."

I have been amazed by the collaboration, the giving, and the unity that my Ecuadorian countrymen and countrywomen are showing to the ones in need.
As a proud Ecuadorian living abroad, I feel the need to help the victims of this tragedy with my little grain of sand. This is the reason why I decided to create this campaign. From this earthquake people have lost family, friends, belongings, etc. In many places there is no electricity, water, and some other basic services.
Please help me help Ecuador. Any donation makes a difference. There is no small donation. Any penny, loonie, or pound counts :)
