Carlos Alejandro Perez Correra, 16, was in Corpus Chriti scheduled to compete in the Skills USA competition at the American Bank Center over the weekend.
Before the competition, he and a few of his friends went to Bob Hall Pier for some fun and relaxation. About 11 a.m. Friday, Perez went into the water to swim, this was the last time he was seen.
According to witnesses, Perez was standing in water about chest high when he was apparently swept under by the current. Coast Guard Search and Rescue teams were called in, they frantically searched for the teen, to no avail.
Equusearch, a non-profit organization that specializes in search efforts has been called in. They began the search Monday around 9:30 a.m.
