Carl Powers & Family

Donation protected
Weymouth has lost one of the great ones in Carl Powers.  Loved by many, he had such a positive impact on so many lives through his many years of  service to the town. He will be missed by all. During this difficult time, please keep the Powers family in your thoughts and prayers  and consider helping the Powers family through the difficulties associated with his sudden passing.

From Carl's obituary:

Carl Powers, age 63, of Hanover passed away suddenly yet peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2016. Carl graduated Weymouth High in 1971 and immediately got involved working with the Weymouth Recreation Department where he met his wife of 34 years, Joanne (Duffy). They soon got married and settled in Hanover where they started and raised a family. While working part time with the Recreation Dept. Carl worked as a supervisor at AAA for 10 years before getting offered a full time position with the Recreation Dept. in Weymouth in 2001, a job that he loved and was dedicated to which was always evident most especially in the summers. Carl considered himself lucky to have a career that he enjoyed so much. His colleagues admit, with confidence, that Carl was an integral part of the success of the Recreation Dept. and the success of those who went through the program. Although Carl enjoyed his work, he lived for his four children and was a family man who always managed to carve out time to be there for them. He enjoyed his family vacations to Cape Cod and, without a doubt, the Boston Celtics have lost one of their biggest fans. Carl was full of spirit, kindness, and love. These traits will be sorely missed by this entire community but most certainly, never forgotten.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife Joanne Powers (Duffy) of Hanover, his loving children David Powers of Somerville, and Brian, Craig, and Sarah Powers all of Hanover, his sister Janice Murray of Weymouth, and his brother Ken Powers of Sheffield, MA. Carl is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
