Carl's Journey to Universiade 2017

My name is Carl De Abreu, a student-athlete from Toronto, Ontario. I am currently studying Psychology at Trent University, while competing on the Men's Varsity Soccer team. I am also a member of the North Toronto Nitro's Pro-Am Men's Team in League 1 Ontario.
This past year has been an incredible stepping stone in my journey to reach my full potential as an athlete. It has been a great year with both Trent University and North Toronto SC both on and off the field.
I've been truly grateful to have the support of my coaches, teammates, family members and friends in addition to my hard work yield results and be rewarded.
To add to this incredible year I've had, I'd like to announce that I have been given the opportunity to represent the Canadian USport Men's Soccer Team at the 29th Summer Universiade. This year it will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from August 19th to 30th.
Canada Men's Soccer Roster
"The Universiade is an international multi-sport competition that takes place every two years. The event is second only to the Olympics in number of participating athletes and countries, is open to competitors between the ages of 17 and 28 in the year of the games who are full-time students at a post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post secondary institution in the year proceeding the games."

Unfortunately, our participation as student-athletes is self-funded. The amount raised will be used to cover the costs associated with participation on the team and additional travel and transportation expenses.
I would greatly appreciate any support you would be able to offer. It would be an honour to represent Canada on the international stage.
Thank you!
