Carly is going Hairless for Awareness
My name is Carly Lavin, I’m 21 years old, and I’ve been deeply affected by suicide.
As today (September 10th) is World Suicide Prevention Day and September being National Suicide Prevention Month, I believe there is no better time to raise awareness and support for youth mental health.
I took a ‘bald’ step: , I shaved my head in honour of two incredible friends, Corey Maric and Riley Pearce, who tragically lost their lives to suicide at just 15 and 17. Their loss has profoundly impacted our community, and I wanted to do something meaningful to keep their memories alive, while helping others who might be struggling.
Like many, I’ve faced my own struggles with mental health, and it’s been a challenging journey. These experiences have made me even more determined to raise awareness and provide support for those in need.
The funds raised will go directly to the Corey Maric Youth Support Foundation, an organization dedicated to suicide and self-harm prevention among our youth in Gippsland. They work tirelessly to provide resources, support, and hope to those in need
Please join me in this effort by donating what you can. Every dollar counts and brings us one step closer to a world where no young person has to face their battles alone. Let’s stand together, support one another, and make a difference in memory of Corey, Riley, and all those affected by mental health challenges.
