Help Carly recover from a traumatic brain injury
Donation protected
As many of you know, our dear friend Carly suffered a traumatic brain injury in June 2021 when she was visiting Quebec. A wood frame wall measuring 20 feet high and 37 feet wide struck Carly in the head and neck.
For the past year, her life has focused on trying to manage debilitating symptoms, continue working as much as she can, and attempt to heal from this significant injury. Carly is facing this all without adequate medical care or financial support, causing significant barriers to her access to treatment, and ultimately, recovery.
Recently, Carly underwent 2 weeks of assessments with integrative concussion rehabilitation specialists in Vancouver. They found that she has an extremely complex brain injury and recommended a minimum of a year and half of rehabilitation along with specialized treatment from a neuro-optometrist. This means Carly will need to relocate to Vancouver to undergo full-time rehabilitation. We are hopeful that with these therapies Carly can make a full recovery but there are some measurable challenges she faces that we deeply want to support her with.
The unfortunate news is that Carly’s treatment will not be covered.
If you know Carly, you likely know that asking for help from her community is not without an immense amount of consideration and care. She is someone who walks with people through incredible adversity and still moves with the lightest of hearts. This past year has challenged her to capacity and beyond. And now that she has a clear plan of treatment in sight and path to recovery, she is open to the possibility of receiving community support.
We are hoping to raise funds to allow Carly to start treatment as soon as possible, as well as complete a move with as much ease as we can muster. If you are able to contribute financially, our gratitude returns ten- fold. And if you have any access to/ or ideas around housing options in Vancouver (preferably Kitsilano area where she will be receiving treatment) our gratitude returns ten-fold. And please feel free to share this with your networks, who may also have the means to offer support. (You also get a return of gratitude ten-fold).
Your support and care means the world.
Hand over heart,
Thank you,
Allana, Meghan and Shauna
