One very precious baby girl, Carly Joy Amodeo, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015. Carly was 7 years old and was born with Trisomy 18, a condition that occurs in about 1 out of every 2,500 pregnancies in the United States. About 50% of babies who are carried to full term are born alive, and those that survive have about a 10% chance of surviving until their first birthdays.
Carly shattered those statistics. Carly gave her father (Dante), her mother (Deborah), and her two sisters (Kathryn and Janae) 7 years of joy, laughter, smiles, love, and above all, courage. Although the Amodeo family shared 7 more years of life than they expected with this beautiful girl, it is still an unbearable, unimaginable loss.
The Amodeo family is sweet, gentle, kind, loving, and selfless. They are a family of faith and strength. They have received an outpouring of kind words, well wishes, thoughts, prayers, condolences, and comfort from friends, family, co-workers, and the community.
Unfortunately, the cost of saying goodbye to a loved one is not cheap. Carly was a tremendous testament of what it means to inspire others. She was a tiny angel who briefly graced us with her presence on this Earth.
Let's return the favor. Let's give her the unconditional love and eternal peace she deserves by helping the Amodeo family pay for her funeral expenses. This family would never ask their friends, family, co-workers, or even strangers, for donations—they are too humble and sweet and would rather focus on Carly's legacy (as they should).
So I am asking on their behalf, for your help. I am one of Dante's co-workers and friends and feel compelled to help. Perhaps it's because I feel helpless and know that there are no amount words that can offer the ultimate comfort. But we can provide our support and lift some of the burden from their already heavy shoulders.
No donation is too small. We may not meet our goal or cover the entire cost of Carly's funeral expenses, but we can certainly try to make a difference. It is the least we can do for a little girl who had such a powerful impact on this world.
