Tracy Drake Carmichael Stabbing Victim/Survivor

Donation protected

On Friday February 28, my cousin was brutally attacked while on the job where she worked as a receptionist at the Carmichael Health and Wellness Center. This center is designed to help those suffering from addiction or homelessness by offering various resources. She’s only worked there since the beginning of the year after having been laid off from her previous job at another medical facility due to cut backs. She was just now getting back on her feet and excited to have a new job. Then, the unthinkable happened.

A man who was referred to the center for help instead arrived with a 10” hunting knife where he brutally attacked 4 employees, murdering 2 people and leaving 2 others critically injured in the ICU.

My cousin was one of the critically injured victims. She was stabbed multiple times in the head, back, arms, side, and shoulder while she was attempting to defend and protect the first victim.  She is currently in the ICU with cracked ribs, a punctured lung and stapled/stitched stab wounds across her body.  She is very lucky to be alive considering the extent of her injuries and first responders  feared that she could have been paralyzed from the stab wounds to the back.

The physical scars will heal, but her emotional wounds may never leave her. She’s suffering very serious survivors guilt and PTSD, which will take many years to recover from, if ever.

She continues to apologize that she could not save the two coworkers that lost their lives. She cries and wishes she could have done more. The detectives working the case called her a true hero because her screams prompted the other building’s lock down. Her attacker could have easily killed 30 people  in near by buildings.

Since her name was released in the media just this morning, she has received photos from unknown phone numbers with cruel/tormenting pictures making her relive this nightmare over and over again.

At this point she is terrified and is even more terrified to go home as she does not have a lot familial support in her current city. We are hoping to move her from Sacramento closer to us (I’m the Bay Area), so we can help her get back on her feet and be her emotional support. Authorities have urged her to move because she feels unsafe.

She is a single mother who truly believes God spared her life for her children. As she fought this attacker, she prayed over her dying friends and asked God to spare her because she felt like her kids would have nobody had she passed.

Any help/donation will go to relocating her to a safer place to live closer to our family. Doctors believe she will have a difficult time if she is even able to work again not only due to her physical injuries but the mental and emotional trauma from which she is suffering.

Any donation is TRULY appreciated. Even your well wishes and prayers are enough.
