Carol Carpenter’s Life Affirming Surgery

My name is Carol Carpenter and I am seeking assistance to afford gender affirming care through sex reassignment surgery.

I came out as transgender in January of 2022 and started hormone replacement therapy on September 1st, 2022. Since coming out my life has improved drastically in every way. People tell me I smile more and that I look so much happier in pictures. Now I am ready for the next difficult step in my transition journey.

The funds I’m looking to raise will cover my out of pocket expenses ($4k), rent for the duration of my recovery time ($1,581), my usual medications ($150), as well as food and emergency expenses (~$219).

I am much luckier than most trans people in America with health insurance through work that covers gender affirming care. However, the out-of-pocket costs for surgery as well as rent and other bills are more than I will be able to afford alone.

I’m asking my community for help because you are the people who have helped me get to where I am today. I’ve already been so supported and cared for by you and words cannot express how grateful I am. I hope my actions and contributions back to my friends and community will be living proof of the love you have shown to me.
