Carol Dekontee Smith

On behalf of the bright light and kind soul of our dear friend Michelle Smith, we announce the sudden passing of her sister, Carol Dekontee Smith. Michelle has always brought a tremendous spiritual presence and love to our community and friend group. Michelle is one who makes this world and our lives a better place. It’s because of that love and her spirit, that we request your assistance in her families’ time of need. This is our opportunity to show and share our love and support for Michelle, out of appreciation for all of the positivity she puts out into the world. Carol is survived by two sons, Darrien, who is 18 years old, and Curtis, who is 15 years old. Tragically, Curtis lost his father just three weeks before his mother's passing, leaving him utterly heartbroken at such a tender age to endure the loss of both parents.

Prior, Michelle’s sister, Carol Dekontee Smith, had received a devastating health diagnosis that forced her to put her studies on hold and prevented her from completing her state board testing. Carol had to adapt to her new heart condition and underwent a major surgery to implant a defibrillator. Despite these challenges, she continued to work tirelessly to support her two boys, actively volunteered in the community, and made a positive impact on everyone she encountered. She was especially proud of her oldest son and putting him thru college. This is Michelle’s biggest concern - the future of these beautiful young men.

In light of this difficult situation, the family humbly requests donations to assist Curtis (15) in navigating life without his parents and to support Darrien (18) as he transitions into college and adulthood.

Just as Michelle is, Carol was a compassionate and loving individual who consistently extended her help to those around her. The family, and our beloved Michelle, is deeply saddened by her sudden demise. The funds collected will be utilized to provide necessary resources and financial assistance to the boys over the next few years, and very importantly, their college and counseling.

Your thoughts and prayers for their well-being are greatly appreciated, particularly for Curtis, who is facing the tremendous challenge of losing both of his parents at such a young and developmental age.
