Carole Gorman's Bilateral Lung Transplant

This fundraiser is to help alleviate costs associated with an upcoming bilateral lung transplant for Carole Gorman. Carole is a loving and devoted wife, mother, Yaya, daughter, and friend, among many other roles. The last several months have been extremely tough on her and her family.

This past September, Carole became ill with Covid, ultimately resulting in Covid pneumonia. Because of this, she was placed in the ICU and a rehabilitation facility until mid November. She and Randy both ended up retiring from their jobs due to her illness. Upon leaving the hospital in November until presently, she still requires large amounts of oxygen around the clock. In March, she was told that due to prior scarring on her lungs, and now additional scarring because of the pneumonia, she could potentially qualify for a lung transplant. She has finally been added to the transplant list and is now awaiting a much needed bilateral lung transplant at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Your donation will help the Gorman family with a myriad of costs associated with the transplant. Carole has been in the hospital in Kentucky since June 6th, as she and her family waited for her to be added to the transplant list, and now for the transplant itself to take place. Once she receives her transplant, she will be in the hospital for additional 2-3 weeks. Following discharge from the hospital, she will be required to stay in a hotel or apartment in the area for an another month or so for daily visits and follow-ups with doctors. Once she is able to return home, she and Randy will continue to travel to and from Lexington frequently for follow-up appointments. She will also require multiple medications each day.
