Lets help the village finish building their school library!
Donation protected
This project is to finish the building of the school library in Caroline Bay, a remote village of Vanuatu, which began over 10 years ago.
When our family visited the village recently we decided to start this campaign to help the children who need a place for books and reading, an office for the School Principal, and a viewing platform and stage for kids activities.
The walls are already done. All they need is funds for the materials to build the floor, roof, windows and doors.
The photos from our trip are on this Youtube video:
Caroline Bay, population 300, is very isolated, on the south end of Malekula Island, Vanuatu. It can only be accessed via a 3-hour boat journey. There are no roads, limited reception. The villagers are almost self sufficient including the school which runs on almost no funding.
The school teaches 75 local children as well as some from two neighbouring villages. The school principal is Sanny Malai. Sanny has many cartons of books in storage and no library to in which to share them. See his appeal for support in the video below:
The funds raised here will only cover the cost of the non-local materials. The village will supply all labour and local materials. The materials details and budget are in the
Funding Agreement signed by the school.
