Caroline Lantz’s Medical Fund

4 year-old daughter, Caroline Lantz has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.

This horrible recent news has been almost unfathomable to accept as reality. 'Caroline has been diagnosed with Cancer'. Our community has repeated it time and time again because it feels like an incredibly horrible nightmare that we struggle to wake from.

Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer that starts in very early forms of nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus. (The term neuro refers to nerves, while blastoma refers to a cancer that affects immature or developing cells). This type of cancer occurs most often in infants and young children. It is rarely found in children older than 10 years. Caroline’s cancer has appeared around her spine. The doctors are in the beginning stages of determining the treatment and the severity so the process of the FIGHT can begin! As someone recently stated... "So this is the enemy." Yes, THIS, 'Neuroblastoma', IS the ENEMY!

At a time when Caroline’s focus should be spent learning to read, write and love a 4 year old life, she must now learn to accept hospitals and doctors as her new reality. When she should be spending her free-time with friends and family, she will now be isolated with surgeons, nurses and pathologists. At an age when her attention should be on play dough and books, Caroline's attention is now on the 'unknown'.

Those who already know Caroline have undoubtedly fallen in love with her sense of humor, compassionate heart and strong-will. Not to mention her beauty. She is charismatic, smart, kind and funny. She keeps her parents on their toes and loves her older brother Andrew fiercely. All these things plus so many more are what makes her such in incredibly special young lady who is truly just beginning her life.

Parents of Caroline, Mark and Margaret have begun the battle of doctors, pathologists, insurance companies and hospitals. They truly are now faced with the 'new normal' and reality of this battle and have been made painfully aware that in order for Caroline to survive and beat this, they must do everything in their power to make this successful.

In preparation, Mark and Margaret have become painfully aware that the daunting costs to come of out-of-pocket expenses, will become astronomical and overwhelming for their family. While currently both Mark and Margaret are employed, eventually Margaret will step away from her career to dedicate everything to Caroline’s fight. This family will be going from a two person income to a single person household income. This financial decrease means a new family financial challenge.
Also overwhelming, are the tears and fear. Such torment! Wishing the battle was not hers. Asking God ‘why’. Sadness, confusion, anger. But through it all we must pray! We must FIGHT. We fight because cancer does not always win! Caroline will have an incredible future.

We are asking for any amount of donation that you can contribute. Mark and Margaret need help this support so they can make this FIGHT a success.

Also and equally as important, we ask for your prayers, positive thoughts and encouragement. This road will be long but we need to do everything to support this amazing family.
