Caroline’s Fight Against Wilms Tumor
Donation protected
What started out as a potential viral infection has turned into our worst nightmare. On 10/20 Caroline was seen in the ER for having a dark blood like tinge to her urine, it was believed she had a viral infection and we were sent home. Caroline’s condition greatly improved but then on Halloween things started to change. She began having the blood like tinge again; then on Tuesday after school she had active bleeding in her urine. She was immediately taken to the ER where they ran the gamut on testing. An ultrasound then picked up the absolute last thing any parent wants to hear. They found a large mass on her kidney that appeared to be a Wilms tumor. We were immediately sent to Riley Childrens Hospital. From there it has been a whirlwind; she had her right kidney and a tumor about the size of a grapefruit removed on 11/3. We are currently waiting on pathology to come back with results from testing the tumor to determine how many rounds and the severity of the rounds of chemo. We currently are scheduled to start chemo treatment on 11/10. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. We truly appreciate everything!!!
