Carol’s financial burden after Cancer diagnosis
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Rachel and I have created this fundraiser for my sister to help with the ongoing costs related to her Stage 3 ductal carcinoma, triple negative breast cancer.
Carol was diagnosed on December 20/22 and after numerous tests and biopsies, she started chemotherapy and immunotherapy on February 9/23.
She had a very well paying job as a housekeeping manager with Compass Group Canada in a remote camp in Dubreuville, Ontario. She dedicated her life to her job and worked a 21 days on and 7 off every month. She often volunteered to stay after her own rotation was over to fill in when they were short staffed! Carol loves her job and can’t wait to return! Not only does she love her job, the money is what’s hurting the most right now!
She is currently receiving employment insurance benefits and has only 1 more week, before she will be cut off from them and be forced to live on CPP benefits. Employment insurance sickness benefits, only last for26 weeks. CPP will only cover a portion of her rent. She will not be able to pay for anything else. ie: food, phone and household expenses, all the travel to and from appointments, parking, etc.
Carol is currently on the second half of her chemo regimen and has only one more treatment, and then will be having a complete double mastectomy on Aug 8/23 and then 9 more rounds of immunotherapy and then radiation. After all of this, Carol will then be having reconstructive surgery. This is going to be a long haul for my sister. Not only will she have to endure all the medical aspects, She, will have to worry about a roof over her head and where her next meal will come from.
All of the funds raised will go directly to alleviate some of the financial burden.
Carol needs to be on a special diet to keep up her strength! She is rapidly losing weight and literally cannot afford to lose any more!
All of these things need immediate attention as she is slowly getting behind on everything! Not only is she going through a devastating medical issue but the financial stress this is posing to her is not allowing her to focus on the number one thing and that is to get better so she can go back to work and try and live, somewhat normal again.
Carol needs your help. It will probably be at least a year before all of these medical things get taken care of, so she is healthy enough to get back to work.
We thank everyone for their help.
UPDATE: Local paper does story on Carol.
