Carol Harmett Memorial Playground
Donation protected
My name is Frank McGrail. My sister, Carol McGrail Harmett was a teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Asbury Park NJ. OLMC is a wonderful place. It is a grammar school that teaches and nurtures children who come from families who sacrifice everything to give their kids a chance at a better life through the love and structure they receive at OLMC. These are families that have very little. Carol loved these kids and cherished every day of the 21 years she spent at the school. She had a bond with her students that lasted many years after they left the school.
In the August of 2012, Carol was stricken with a rare type of cancer and by October, she was gone. She was 51. She left behind a husband and two beautiful boys. She also left a stunned class of students- her kids. Her memorial Service was an unbelievable parade of people who she had taught over those 21 years. They were devastated, as we all were. Their love for her is what sustained our family during those tough days.
OLMC wants to remember Carol in a very special way. There is currently no playground for the little ones in the early grades and very little money available to build one. The principal, Sister Jude, had some great news for me recently. A charitable foundation was making a gift to the school to pay for playground equipment. But the rest of the money neccessary to remove the asphalt and build and landscape the playground still needs to be found. THIS IS WHERE WE COME IN! We need to raise $10,000 to build this playground. It will be named to honor the memory of Carol. But what it will really do is give these little guys and gals a safe place to play where now there is none. Nothing would make Carol happier then to know that though our generosity, we did this for her kids.
Please help in any way you can. Here is a chance to make a direct impact on the lives of kids who need it desperately. Construction is slated to start this Summer with a dedication before the Fall term. Please open your hearts, it will mean so much to these little ones. Your donations will be tax deductible and so easy to give.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all.
