Carolyn Hanish Scholarship Fundraiser

Carolyn Hanish was a veterinary student in the Nebraska-Iowa Class of 2022. During our first two years of vet school, she held multiple leadership positions, including class president and student representative for Royal Canin.

In May 2020, Carolyn and her family were in a terrible car accident. Carolyn has since overcome many challenges, including relearning how to swallow, speak, and walk. Although she could not return to vet school, Carolyn remains a strong supporter of UNL veterinary students and is a familiar face around campus as a worker at the Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center.

Last year, Carolyn’s vet school classmates provided her with a financial scholarship to help with her future endeavors. To honor her dedication and perseverance, we will be continuing this scholarship in her name and awarding it to a first or second-year veterinary student from Nebraska every year. The recipient will be selected based on their leadership experience and the hardships they have faced.
