X-RAY MACHINE URGENTLY NEEDED:
As a resident of the tiny island of Carriacou in the West Indies, I urgently appeal for your support. On 1st July 2024, Hurricane Beryl, a hurricane bordering on Category 5, devastated this island, wiping out 98% of the homes and buildings, including the hospital, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities. Although rebuilding is ongoing, it is going to take many years to recover adequate services. Islanders are exhausted and still traumatized as they struggle to rebuild and accidents and frequent, so the whole island is in desperate need of adequate health care and the necessary supplies. On the ground, Minister Enoch Cadore and his wife, Sheena, a
Registered nurse have worked with the charity ‘Samaritans Purse’ to distribute tarpaulins and solar lights and to set up a field hospital to treat the injured and sick. Despite these efforts, they urgently need medical supplies and equipment and personal care packs that will sustain nursing staff as they go through this difficult time. We have nursing personnel in the UK and USA standing by to acquire, package, and send in barrels, all medical supplies and urgent items such as mosquito repellant, toiletries and care packs.
We will not give the funds directly to the hospital but instead purchase equipment and supplies that are urgently required as told to us directly by nursing staff.
The most recent need is for an X-RAY MACHINE (as the existing one was damaged when rain flooded through the roof when it was damaged in Hurricane Beryl) which we are fundraising for currently. As things stand, if a patient needs an X-ray, they have to go down to Grenada as there are no other X-ray services on island; a painful 2 hour boat trip for most patients.
100% goes to purchases and shipping costs.
PLEASE PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND SHARE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
