Carrick Elite AAU Boys Basketball Team

Hello Everyone,

Our names are Kevin McArdle and Nathanael Morton and we are the coaches of the Carrick Elite AAU Basketball Team. We are trying to raise money for the Spring and Summer AAU basketball seasons to give the boys of Carrick an opportunity to better learn the game of basketball, work as a team, and improve themselves as individuals.

Coach Kevin is a Police Officer for the City of Pittsburgh and Coach Nathanael is a Teacher and Personal Trainer, and the goal is to raise the money needed to cover the cost of Uniforms, Tournament Fees, Equipment, Food, and Transportation.

As violence in the city continues, we plan to give the youth a positive alternative where they can learn, grow, and become contributing members of society. We will teach these boys about continuous growth and development of themselves and their skills, hard work, deliberate practice - and most of all, we will teach them to be men of integrity and character.

We would be extremely grateful if you could share this post, and if you cannot donate any money, please understand that just your support and encouragement of these young men are more than enough.

PRICE BREAKDOWN:

Uniforms and Backpacks: $1200

Uniforms: $600

Backpacks: $600

*The boys expressed interest in backpacks, but uniforms to play are priority 1.

Tournament Fees: $8,000

*Each tournament is $350-400 and is Friday-Sunday. This makes sense when the parents of 10 kids can each pay $35 for their child to play, but we do not have that luxury.

There are 22 total tournaments during the Spring and Summer AAU seasons, and we would like to play in as many as we can based on how much money we can raise.

Food and Snacks: $7260

*This seems like quite a lot of money for food, but if you're the parent of a hungry teenage boy you may understand.

If we play in 22 different weekend tournaments and each child gets $10 per day for food (3 days - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), that would come to $30 per child. We have 11 athletes on the team which comes to $330 per weekend for every child to eat.

If we cannot raise enough money for food, coach Kevin and coach Nate will pay for the food themselves (we are committed to making this thing work).

Basketballs: $300

*Coach Nate already has a few basketballs that the team can use, but it would be nice for the team to be able to afford a few of their own basketballs to use for practices, warm ups, etc.

Water Bottles: $50

*If we could buy a few sport water bottles from Dicks Sporting Goods that would be excellent.

**Any extra money that we earn will be used for the 2023 Fall AAU season and the 2024 Spring and Summer seasons.
