The Vegas have had a horrendous few months. Just when things seemed to be settling down after the death of two parents within a month of each other, Carrie got devastating news.
Carrie was diagnosed with cancer this week. After months of testing to determine the cause of unexplained stomach issues, she was diagnosed with low-grade serous carcinoma. It is a very rare cancer that likely started in her fallopian tubes and has continued to spread and cover the surface of almost all of her organs.
In the next couple of weeks, Carrie will have to undergo a very extensive surgery to remove the cancer from all of her organs. She will have to have a full hysterectomy, appendectomy, possible removal or part of her colon and liver, and any other organs that the cancer is affecting. Once the cancer is removed they will administer hot chemo to the entire area. She is expected to be in the hospital anywhere from a week to multiple weeks. Luckily, the oncologist is confident that once this is successfully done, the likelihood of recurrence is low.
Carrie is only 35 years old. She is married to the most loving man and has 3 beautiful children at home that they support. As you can imagine, this diagnosis is going to take a major toll on her family emotionally as well financially. Carrie and Sal have already had to miss a lot of work after the death of her parents. Now, with this diagnosis they will likely be missing a lot more.
