In Memory of Hubert and Carry Forward His Dream

Dear Friends,

Joseph and Vanessa’s eldest son, Hubert, stayed after school on February 25th with a classmate to work on a NASA project. As they were leaving school around 7 p.m. and crossing the street, they were struck by a moving vehicle. Tragically, Hubert passed away, and his classmate was seriously injured.

From a young age, Hubert was exceptionally curious and passionate about AI robotics. The team he was part of won numerous awards in national competitions. As a senior at Sanger High, he had already completed his MIT interview and was scheduled to interview with Harvard University. However, this unexpected accident has tragically cut short his dreams.

In Hubert’s college application essay, I saw that he expressed his sincere gratitude to his parents for their unconditional support, acceptance and love, which enabled him to actively and enthusiastically devote himself to the research of AI robotics. In addition, he also has the biggest wish: to create an artificial intelligence robot that can help disabled people stand up independently. He hopes that his father in a wheelchair can stand up again and live a better quality life!

Losing a child is an unimaginable sorrow for any parent. Several friends have suggested establishing a fund in Hubert’s memory, and Joseph and Venessa deeply appreciate this initiative. They hope the fund will be used to support the robotics team Hubert was devoted to and help carry forward his dream.

各位果友， 

在疫情期間幫助我們蔬果熟食不斷的鄉巴佬農場，水果哥夫婦家中，發生了一件令人痛心的意外事件！

水果哥的大兒子Hubert, 2月25日與另一名同學因為要趕製NASA 的一個project, 所以課後留在學校繼續進行研究。兩人當晚七點多離開學校要過馬路的時候，被一輛行駛中的汽車撞擊，導致Hubert 去逝，另一位同學重傷。

Hubert 從小就是個好奇寶寶，對A I機器人的研發更是愛不釋手，他所參加的團隊在全美比賽中屢獲佳績。Hubert 已經完成MIT interview，原本應該在下星期進行Harvard U. 的interview ，並於今年秋天進入大學，繼續實現他的夢想，如今卻因為一場意外，終止了他的人生目標… 

在Hubert 申請大學的論文，看見他對父母無條件的支持、接納和愛，獻上了真誠的感謝，他才可以積極熱情地投入AI robotics(人工智能機器人）的研究，另外他還有一個最大的願望就是，製造一個幫助殘疾人，可以獨立站起的人工智能機器人，希望坐輪椅的父親也能再站起來，過更有品質的生活！

白髮人送黑髮人是為至慟，我們決定發起一個捐款活動，把我們的關懷轉化成一筆基金，一方面紀念哥哥，一方面協助弟弟在學業上繼續精進。

水果哥水果嫂這兩天收到許多的慰問，他一再表示，他們完全沒有想到只是賣蔬菜水果，卻迎來了大家這麼多的友誼，他們萬分感激。
