Carson Dalton Singleton, 33, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 as the result of a tragic accident.
For all of us who were blessed to call Carson a friend, co-worker or loved one, his tragic loss has been deeply felt. With that being said, this unexpected tragedy has been extremely hard on his wife Mary Jo and his son Kyle.
Below is a message from Mary Jo:
"Sunday we went to church as a family of three. We stopped at the fire station afterwards where Kyle took pictures on his favorite truck and Carson showed us the new brush truck he and the guys had been building. He was so proud of it.
Carson wanted to go back to our farmhouse to start hauling hay, but he knew I wanted to go to Graham to eat. He took us to town and we ate at our favorite Mexican food restaurant.
We made it back to the house and I told him “take a picture with me” before we walked in. He said “You and your da** pictures” because he looooved pictures so much, but he took it with me anyway, just like always. I told him “I just want to remember today”. I didn’t know that would be our last picture.
We went in the house, I packed up our stuff to go back home, gave him hugs and kisses and walked out the door. He was changing from church clothes into work clothes when he came running outside in his underwear yelling “the hydraulic hoses!” He had left some in my pickup and I was unloading them when he came outside. He thought I forgot to leave them, and he needed them yesterday. I was unloading them when he came running outside. It tickled him that I remembered to get them. He smiled, gave me a hug and one more kiss and I drove away. We were so HAPPY.
I didn’t hear from him again on Sunday, which was pretty unusual, but sometimes he didn’t text me if he had a really late night. I sent him a text yesterday morning at 6 asking why he didn’t text me. I knew I’d hear from him when he got up. No word at 9. At 10. Or 11. By now I have a horrible feeling in my stomach and try to call and track him down. No one has heard from him. He hadn’t logged online to work.
I messaged my sister-in-law to run by our farmhouse to check on him. She found him underneath his pickup. He had jacked it up and was laying underneath when it fell on him. The coroner swears that Carson felt no pain and his transition into Heaven was instant. I have to keep telling myself this is the biggest blessing in it all.
I can’t make myself stay at our farmhouse yet. Maybe in time, but he’s going to be everywhere I look surrounded by all of our things we worked so hard to have and I just don’t have the strength to face the house without him.
Carson always loved a good fire, so he will be cremated. Half of him will rest in Young County beside his father. The other half will rest at the cemetery at the back of our property in Hamilton so that Kyle and I can see him and talk to him whenever we want.
First, I would like to thank everyone who has reached out to me to offer their love and support. I am still in shock and completely numb.
Carson was such a good man. He didn’t deserve this.
Kyle didn’t deserve to lose his daddy.
And I didn’t deserve to lose the love of my life at 32.
We are broken. We are lost. We just want him back.
If you want to do something to help, just please pray for us. Pray to give us strength and understanding. This has been an absolute nightmare and it’s only beginning. Hug your family. Tell them you love them. Take the picture. Stay an extra 5 minutes. Say “I love you” way too much. I wish I had done all of it more."
In order to show our love and support to this young family, we wanted to to provide a way for those who would like to help cover the funeral expenses and support for Mary Jo and Kyle.
Please continue to be in prayer for God to grant strength and comfort to this family.
"3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
