Carter Autism Assessments

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Apryl and I have a 2 year boy named Carter.

Here’s the little back story to my family:

Carter started to show signs and symptoms of Autism around 8-9 months old. He had his pre-screening for Autism when he was 18 months. The doctor told us that she thinks that he is autistic but won’t know until he is fully diagnosed.
When my husband and I finally heard it out loud. It was so difficult to hear but even harder to not blame yourself for the way that he is.

Unfortunately, I’m the only one working between my husband and I since he was laid off due to the pandemic. And we are still waiting for his permanent residence. I’m doing all that I can to make ends meet and pay the bills.

Currently, I’m working on finding another job as a added source of income.

I would really like to get Carter the diagnosis needed so that my husband and I can find the tools/resources needed to get the help needed.

In Canada, there are 3 components before they diagnose for Autism. Those 3 components are done with a psychiatrist, speech pathologist and then the paediatrician.

Carter has his first assessment on December 8-9th, 2021 with the psychiatrist and then also on the 9th, he has his assessment with the speech pathologist. We are still on the waiting list for a full assessment of Autism with the paediatrician.

I would really appreciate any help that I can get to help with Carter’s diagnosis. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Thanks again,

Apryl
