Carter Family Bills for Abe

My name is Jessica Carter.

My heart is heavy, my 8 year old German Shepherd, Abe Carter, passed away at 4:30am on June 18th of 2023.

When we first got Abe a year and a half ago, Abe had a ton of skin issues and patches of his hair were falling out. He also had ear mites that was causing bleeding and scabbing in the ears. We spent around $250 for the initial appointments trying to get him healthy.

Then in November of 2022, Abe has blood in his urine and we have been basically treating him with different antibiotics ever since then. These appointments have been around $150.

Abe was going to a few vet appointments for a cough that was getting worse. First, we thought he was getting choked on something, then we thought allergies, but the last thing we ever expected was cancer.

At 11pm on June 17th, Abe had a seizure like issue, stopped moving, and had a hard time standing. We rushed to the emergency vet in Wilson, they did testing, x-rays, and found out that cancer was spread all over.

If you know me, you know that I have had 4 surgeries this calendar year which has accumulated roughly $15k in medical bills that I am currently paying on each month in the amount of $500 each month..

So the extra out of pocket cost for his medications leading up to his euthanasia has put my family is a small bind, as we never expected to be paying $850 all within two weeks and the end result was not what we wanted….
