Carter's Ride: From Tourette's to Triumph

My name is Carter Metcalfe, and I’m a 13-year-old mountain biker from Farmington, Utah. I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to create a documentary in New Zealand, the land of my grandfather, where I’ll explore the country’s amazing mountain biking trails, connect with my roots, and meet kids from all around the country to share my story of overcoming challenges.

This journey is personal to me. Fourteen months ago, I was diagnosed with severe Tourette Syndrome, which turned my world upside down. I struggled with tics, bullying, and isolation. But through it all, I found an outlet: my bike. Mountain biking became my therapy and my way of overcoming adversity. Sharing my story on social media has inspired millions, but this documentary is a chance to go even deeper—to honor my family’s heritage, remember my late uncle, and show the world the power of resilience and community.
