Update from Brandon: Jan 21st, 2024
Harper is 2lbs 4oz and Oakley is 3lbs. Oakley has had a complete 180 from how she was when she was first was born. Under going a surgery to put a drain in her stomach to a bilateral infection in her lungs. She is doing absolutely amazing and chugging away now. Upcoming for her are further eye exams ensuring there are red blood cell growth on the back of the retinas.
Harper is doing amazing as well! A different path of difficulties in potentially having an allergy towards milk. They are still trying to figure out whether it is the fortifiers or a specific allergen. Because of this, it has been extremely difficult to put on weight. They thought they found the right fortifier but she has hit another weight wall so they had to change it again. Upcoming for her, outside of playing with the fortifier, is doing an eye exam as well.
Money provided directly goes towards helping with hospital bills, food for us and our toddler at home. On top of this, aids in ensuring we can make it back home to San Diego. It has been impossible landing a job while out here in Roanoke though countlessly trying. Being here since November and expected to be here till almost April, it gets extremely tight.
We thank everyone in advance!
Love you all!
Update:
Miracle babies Harper and Oakley continue to fight, they are strong little girls. Lauren and Brandon have been told the twins will be in the NICU at least until February. Lauren will discharge from the hospital in the next few days. Your financial support is going towards food, transportation, and basic necessities as they have been stranded away from home. Lauren and Brandon send their most heartfelt thankfulness to you all for your immense generosity.
On Sunday 11/26/23 Lauren unexpectedly required an emergency C-section at 25 weeks gestation. Twin baby girls, Harper and Oakley will need to stay hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit for the next few months. The Casey family was enroute of their move from Pennsylvania to California when the twins made their grand entrance in Virginia. While Lauren is recovering, Brandon is juggling all the logistics while also caring for their 18 month old baby, Asher, and their two family pets. As they are now far from home and family, please consider financially supporting their needs during this difficult season.
