Casey Schumacher

On the morning of November 14th, 2018, Casey collapsed at a conference in New York City as a result of a Cardiac Arrest.  She was taken to the hospital and  remained in ICU for over a month now at Helen L and Martin S. Kimmel Pavillion one of NYU Langone’s inpatient care facilities.  Doctors are still working to diagnose why she went into Cardiac Arrest.  Casey’s recovery is off to a great start, she is showing a lot of resilience and strenth.  She is off most of her machines like the ECMO, Dialysis, and ballon pump.  She is able to respond to simple commands and seems to know her Mom and brother are in the room but hasnt been able to communicate yet.  All of this has made the Doctors optimistic about her recovery.  
Her Mom Chris has been staying in New York since November 14th when all this happened.  Casey is not well enough to transport to Atlanta at this time.
As it stands today they are planning to try and transfer her to a rehab center in New York to start a very long recovery.  She is starting to speak a little and is working hard at standing up and hope to stand unassisted soon.
As you know the expenses will add up quickly.   There is no accommodations for Chris and her family at the hospital so they are forced to rent housing.  I’m sure you know that it can get costly in NY.  I know alot of you have voiced interest in helping Chris and her family.  We are asking for donations as big or little as possible  as every bit helps.  Please find it in your heart to help Casey and her Mom .  Casey is starting to enjoy facebook posts so please share well wishes with her also..  Merry Christmas to all.
