Casey Bassy Recovery

Longtime fans of Casey's from his time on American Idol may already be aware of his battle with ulcerative colitis. Current followers may also be aware that he had recently been hospitalized four times for flare-ups. Three were walk-ins, and the last required an ambulance.

After a month of exhaustive attempts to heal his body, an emergency life-saving

surgery was performed to remove his entire colon. He will make a recovery but will need two more corrective surgeries in the new year in hopes of more healing to come.

It should be stated that UC is an autoimmune disease in the large intestine

whose exact cause remains unknown, and there is no cure. Flareups can be

unpredictable, and it is still a mystery that is difficult for many to manage.

Unfortunately, Casey's extreme outcome has come at a tremendously high

physical and financial cost. The next surgeries and recovery will continue for

many months, with no way to fully know those additional costs.

All of his gigs since September 6 were necessarily canceled, and he will not be

able to work & perform for some time, Casey's foremost source of income.
