Cass Family House Fire
Donation protected
Sadly early evening yesterday Dept. of Communities team members Brent and Jade Cass’s family home was totally destroyed by fire. Brent, Jade their sons Jessie and James and the family dog Mia were all out to dinner at the time so luckily there have been no personal injuries however their home has been completely destroyed by the fire.
I am in regular contact with Jade as they today take stock of the severity of their situation and now start the long recovery process ahead of them. I have assured Jade that all of her and Brent’s colleagues are thinking of them at this time however we do ask that you refrain from making contact with them over the next few days as they will be incredibly busy making the necessary arrangements required as well as taking time to process the situation.
To understand the magnitude of losing your entire family home and possessions is unfathomable and extremely overwhelming and at a time like this as colleagues we support each other the best we can. Already a number of people have made enquiries as to how they can help Brent and Jade and their family. Housing Maintenance Contract Performance will coordinate and be a collection point for any donations that team members wish to donate. It could be something small such as a set of tea towels or bathroom handtowels, through to infant toys for James or something for Jessie .
To give you an idea re the family;
Jessie is 15 and he loves his sport especially football. He supports Port Power.
James is 2 in June.
Mia is a small Maltese type dog and she too has lost her personal possessions such as her dog bed, dog toys etc.
Those of you who know Brent and Jade know that it has been a difficult couple of years as James was born with some ongoing health issues yet through it all they have always maintained a smile and a strong sense of support for all others around them. It is now time for us to return this back to them.
