Cassandra Lease Memorial
Donation protected
My daughter Cassandra, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 2, 2021 in Medford, Massachusetts. She was an amazing person with a huge heart. She was passionate about LGBTQ rights and active in the transgender community. She loved gaming and sci-fi/fantasy, and was on the board of Arisia, a major con for fans in the Boston area. She was also a huge Disney fan and made several pilgrimages to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. She left behind her father (me, Michael Lease), her sister Alanya Divine, and several close friends.
Cassie fought diabetes for much of her adult life. Unfortunately, it appears that she lost her battle a few weeks ago; she had been ill for several days, and took a turn for the worse on Monday, Feb. 1. A friend of hers contacted me the next day to ask if I had heard anything from her. Phone calls and texts went unanswered, and the Medford Police were called to perform a wellness check. Sadly, it was too late to do anything for her, and I am now left to plan her final arrangements and settle her affairs.
She has been cremated, and we are holding her remains until we can arrange a suitable memorial. She wanted her ashes scattered at sea, and I am working to make that happen later in the year (once the weather is more cooperative and hopefully the COVID pandemic is under control).
I need to pay for the cremation, cleaning out her apartment and distributing her belongings to family and friends, and go through her finances with the help of a lawyer and an accountant. Any help offered will be gratefully accepted. I intend to donate any in excess of what I need to pay for settling her affairs to the Trevor Project and Trans Lifeline.
