Cassandra's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
On August 25th, 2021 my sister Cassandra was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. At the young age of 30 she was told she had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma that is ER+ and HER2+. As you can imagine the word "cancer" comes not only with a variety of emotions but a lot of doctors appointments, testing, surgeries, and treatments as well.
After meeting with her oncologist, Cassandra feels confident and has a vision of what her immediate future looks like. As of now the plan starts with fertility doctors, followed by 6 rounds of chemo and receptor targeted therapy, a double mastectomy, and finally 11-12 more rounds of targeted therapy to attack the HER2+ protein. Cassandra and Will have already met with their fertility doctor and have chosen to freeze embryos prior to treatment. Cassandra will also receive a monthly shot which will chemically induce menopause in order to protect her eggs from the upcoming chemo infusions. It will be a long 1-1.5 years of treatment, but we are so grateful to have a plan in place and ready to get her started!
As you may guess, a breast cancer diagnosis and fertility measures come with a large amount of medical bills. We would love to support both Cassandra and Will throughout this journey and of course aid in financial support for them during this time. Many people have reached out to ask how they can help; this is one way we can all come together and lift them up! I know Cassandra and the rest of our family feel extremely blessed to be surrounded by the sweetest support system with the most generous hearts. Thank you for your prayers as she starts this journey to kick cancer's booty!
