Cassie Brewer - A Life Saving Battle

Hi, I’m Ellen, Cassie's mom. On Friday, January 5th, Cassie was taken by ambulance, non-responsive and in septic shock. The doctors made the difficult decision to intubate her to save her life. We almost lost our sweet Cassie many times through the almost two weeks in ICU. Her husband, Scott, was by her side continually, with family keeping vigil and caring for their three little ones, all under six. We are thrilled to share that Cassie’s breathing tube was removed a few days ago, and she is now out of ICU. We have our sweet Cassie back! And now the hard work begins for her.

Recovery has begun, but the road ahead will be long and rigorous. Cassie is a warrior, though! She has already begun speech and cognitive therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. These will continue as in-patient care and out-patient care when she gets home. She will also need nursing care along with medical and helpful devices to continue to heal and get strong. Even extra childcare expenses will be an issue. As you can imagine, the financial need is great.
