Cassie lost all shelter & belongings in car fire

Sometimes, you meet people that you know will change the world given the opportunity. My name is Keyta and recently I met one of the most spectacular people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. In the small amount of time that I’ve known Cassie, she’s helped me in ways I can’t even begin to articulate. Compassionate, honest, and highly intelligent, Cassie encompasses the best traits humanity has to offer.

Unfortunately, those traits have been used against her in ways that are incomprehensible to most. Cassie and her disabled sister endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of a father who trafficked both daughters to wealthy men in their hometown. After having lost their mother at age nine, the one person in the world who championed for her children, Cassie later fled an abusive relationship only to find herself at the mercy of the world.

Having her inheritance stolen by her abusive ex, only a car left to her, along with some personal possessions, Cassie chose herself and has been flying by the seat of her pants as a transient homeless queer woman ever since. Through grit, self determination and the compassion of others, she has been carving a life of healing, joy, and redemption for herself.

That is, until her car overheated and caught fire two weeks ago, leaving her with few items of clothing, a camera she cherishes, and the ashes of her beloved sister. The fire claimed Cassie’s freedom, her home, and the hard earned hope she’s cultivated through her adventures being houseless. Cassie wields her life experience with a dexterity that invites others to heal through simply witnessing her journey.

Cassie is a gift to the world. Please help me in showing Cassie that humanity exists within us still and that we can/will take care of one another. Cassie would like to purchase a vehicle and a mobile shelter with any funds raised. I ask that you join me in helping Cassie recapture her zest for life and the right to live a life worthy of her brilliance.
