Castor's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

Update: despite a couple weeks getting treatment, Castor's condition continued to worsen. In the end, our options were to either place a feeding tube and hope he could recover over many more days/weeks or treatment, or to let him go. We decided that Castor had been through enough. Thankfully he was able to come home and spend his last day with us. We've still got almost 9k of bills, however, and would really appreciate the support.

(We're leaving the original text below and we've added more receipts for full transparency)

Many of you have seen photos and videos of Castor (aka Debildog) online and know that he's our fluffiest, softest, angriest little man.

He recently developed a pretty severe kidney/bladder infection, which led to several complications. After a couple of weeks of antibiotics, his illness continued to worsen, eventually he stopped eating and drinking and became incredibly lethargic, which eventually led us to hospitalize him. As of now, he's currently being treated round the clock for severe pancreatitis and a kidney infection and appears to be making some progress on the road to recovery.

Unfortunately, he isn't back to full health yet, and needs some more time in the hospital to get fluids and nutrients until he's willing to eat on his own again. As many of you know, emergency vet hospital bills are quite expensive. Our current bills for the last two weeks of treatment are around $8k, and each day Castor is receiving care costs around a thousand dollars. While we had a good chunk of the money upfront, the continued expenses have drained our savings and it isn't clear how many more days he'll need care.

Castor is usually an energetic little guy, enjoying yelling at strangers, yelling at other dogs, yelling at birds, yelling at thunder, and yelling at God. Despite his hatred of all things that aren't currently giving him belly scratches, he loves his brother Pollux and the two often wrestle (or compete for dads' attention). We often go for hikes up the mountains or take them to the park so they can run around (and roll in grass, mud, and bear poop that one time).

We're cautiously optimistic that he'll make a full recovery and can come home in the next couple of days, but it could still go either way. Obviously, we're worried sick for him, and Pollux is anxiously waiting for Castor to come home. We're hoping you can help out even a little to offset some of the cost so he can keep getting the treatment he needs.

Thank you for any help you can offer,
Nick, Cam, Pollux (& Castor)

For transparency, attached are the receipts for the bills we've already received. Unfortunately, the largest bill is for his hospitalization (likely at least another three to five thousand), which we won't receive until discharge. We may increase the goal if the bills continue to pile up. Thanks again for all your help.
