The Casual Cat Cafe: Covid-19 Support Fund
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Cindy Pennington, the owner of The Casual Cat Cafe and I'm reaching out to you guys for help.
The Casual Cat Cafe has been a place in the community where rescued cats can live cage free and enjoy a plethora of visitors to keep them company while waiting for their forever home for close to 3 years now. In that time, we have been able to find loving forever homes for 234 kitties. We also provide a great public space for people to come chill and spend some stress-free time in the company of some of DFWs most eligible kitties! About a year and half ago we also expanded our services to include cat boarding. Being the cat lovers we are, we opted to only open 3 kennels in order to allow them to be large and roomy (6ft x 4ft x 6.5ft - much larger than the average boarding kennel with dimensions around 2-3ft) and invested in kitty cameras so not only will kitty be as comfortable as possible during their vacation but pet parents can check in on them as often as they'd like.
Many may not know this, but we have never turned a profit and with all the hours of love and elbow grease I've personally poured into the business, I have never paid myself a paycheck. For me, it was never about money and it has always been about the cats and people. I always make sure my employees are paid, our rent is on time, and that there is no shortage of toys, beds, scratchers, climbers, and quality food for the kitties' bellies.
However, with the recent coronavirus outbreak we must close our cat lounge to the public and in doing so, cut off our main source of revenue. The cat cafe operates with over $6,000 a month in business expenses alone. This is in addition to the food, litter, toys, and vet care expenses which are mostly covered by the nonprofit Casual Cat Charities. Below is a list of our monthly expenses to be as transparent with you as possible. It takes a lot to keep running and with little to no income coming in we won't be able to meet our ongoing expenses.
Here is where we ask for your help!
If you have ever visited our cat lounge and we were able to help bring a smile to your face, if you love cats and appreciate what we do to help those in need, or if you just like to support small local businesses please consider doing one of the following:
1. Support us with a donation to this Go Fund Me to help us keep up with our expenses in this very difficult time. I've currently set the goal for $6,000 or around 1 month of expenses
2. Check out our online store, we are currently revamping it so you can purchase great cat themed products from a trusted local source. Meowchandise
3. Donate to Casual Cat Charities whose funds are used specifically on cat care. However, the charity currently has enough funds to keep up with the cats needs for a few more months
4. Sign up to volunteer with Casual Cat Charities to help us keep up with daily care of the cats. Volunteer
5. Share, share, share! Please share our campaign so we can reach as many cat lovers as possible.
We love of community and all the sweet kitties we have been able to help so far. Your support means the absolute world to us!
Thank you!
