Cat Abuser/Murderer Awareness Fund
Donation protected
A neighbor's cat was abused to the point of near death last week. Fortunately, neighbors rallied, Animal Control arrived quickly, and kitty was saved. The vet said there was no visible injury, and that he had likely been swung by the tail or shaken violently, to the point of near death.
This is Rainbow, hours after his harrowing experience. He's a four year old boy who is normally vibrant and strong. He looks so broken here.
Animal Control indicated that a significant number of cats have been killed and left in trash cans over the past six months. After taking this to the Police, it went viral on local social media. People came out in large numbers saying their cat was found in the same manner, generally already dead.
I've been in touch with a person who lost his cat in this manner two months ago. He and I have agreed to localize a grassroots effort to raise awareness. Our goal is to print as many posters as we can for $100 and spread them all over the city. If people know that this is going on, hopefully they'll keep their cats inside and their eyes open for neighbors pets.
The Whatcom Feline Alliance (WFA) is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of this person. Funds in excess of $100 will be donated directly to their reward fund. The poster we will print is the reward poster provided by the WFA.
This horrible person needs to be caught, but more importantly, people need to know this is happening in their neighborhoods. I can safely speak for the team of people I am part of: We appreciate any help you can provide. We need to keep our kitties safe. Thank you!
