Cat Amputation Vet Bill for Tiger

Asking for help is hard. Harder than people think. I never thought I would find myself in this position, but I am. I’ve been a children’s bookseller and reviewer for almost my entire life. When the pandemic hit, the bookstore shut down and I lost a job I adored. During this time I noticed a bump on the side of my 11 year old cat Tiger’s leg. Tiger was from a feral cat litter. My mother was able to capture Tiger and his two siblings after many unsuccessful attempts. Although my mom wanted to keep the litter, the kittens were too wild. Mom brought the kittens to a shelter. The shelter told her they would most likely spend their entire lives in the shelter. They were considered completely unadoptable. When my mother told me this I felt awful for those kittens. I couldn’t allow such a terrible fate. I told my mother I would see what I could do for them. My mother went back to the shelter and brought them all to my home. It took several weeks and a whole lot of TLC, but I tamed each kitten. Tiger became my favorite. We are inseparable. When I noticed the bump on his leg this past February, I was concerned but I didn’t think a lot of it. Maybe a small wound that would soon heal. But it kept getting bigger. I took Tiger to the vet. This began months of additional visits and a consultation with a specialized vet hospital. Each visit was usually $250 to $600. There were x-rays, blood work, etc. The diagnosis was ultimately cancer. The vets believed it was the kind of cancer that was limited to the leg. The entire front right leg had to be amputated. The one tumor morphed and spread encompassing the bottom part Tiger’s leg. Then his foot became swollen. Tiger had to have the surgery almost immediately. A relative got approved for a vet care payment to pay for Tiger’s surgery as long as paid him back. He is on a fixed income. I agreed and Tiger had the life saving surgery. He is completely free of cancer and I am looking forward to many loving years together. I have done my best, but I am unable to repay my debt. It has been a month since Tiger’s surgery. He is getting used to walking on his three legs. Tiger kind of hops now, but he is fast. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it more than I can say. Tiger is the sweetest, most loving cat. I’m thankful he was given a second chance to have a long life. Thank you for reading and any help you can offer. Much love...
